No Goal Patrol Shines as Eagles Trample the Mustangs

It was a steamy Wednesday night as the Eagles took the pitch against Strongsville. The team came into the game with a 4-0-0 and fresh off a Crusader Cup championship in Cincinnati last weekend. The Strongsville Mustangs, who are always a competitive team, would be a good early season matchup for St. Edward.
This was not the case, as the Eagles were on the offensive almost immediately. After countless opportunities, the Eagles were able to net one. In the 10th minute, Timmy Jonas ’15 was able to get past the Mustang goalie and give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead. The Eagles were able to take this lead into the half, with no real challenges from Strongsville.
As the second half started, the Eagles came out with a bang. 7 minutes into the 2nd half, Chris Allen took a beautiful ball from the midfield and was able to capitalize, giving the Eagles a 2 goal advantage.
Throughout the 2nd half, the Mustangs came out relentless to try and close in on the lead. But, with the leadership of Captain Kurt Wysocki ’15, and beautiful goal keeping from Alex Dudley ’17, they were able to keep the Mustangs out of the net all night. This gave Alex yet another clean sheet on the year.
As the game was winding down, the Eagles scored again on a senior to senior connection. George Bruck ’15 was able to deliver a ball to Collin Richards ’15 in front of the net, where he was able to put the ball away.
The Eagles came out of the game with a 3-0 win and a 5-0-0 record. The Eagles now enter the heart of their season by facing Walsh Jesuit on Saturday. This will be a real test for the Eagles, as the Warriors are one of the top teams in the state. The Eagles play Walsh in Cuyahoga Falls at 7:00pm. Please come out and support the Eagles.
