Eagles Football Gets Revenge on Cass Tech
September 10, 2019
It’s fall, 2018, Cass Tech Ball. 20-15, Eagles are winning. Last play of the game. No more timeouts, it has to be a desperation heave.
Unfortunately, Eagle fans know how this story ended. Luckily, this wasn’t the case last Saturday inside First Federal Lakewood Stadium. The St. Edward football went into Saturday’s game with a chip on their shoulder, and were ready to get revenge on their Michigan rival from Detroit. The opening kickoff started off with Joseph Formani touchdown return, and from there, the Eagles were rolling. With a big crowd inside First Federal Lakewood, the Eagles were able to put up 41 points, block 3 punts and score on a pick six. Cass Tech was limited to 20 points and had multiple turnovers.
At halftime, the scored looked eerily familiar to last year’s halftime score: Eagles up 14. However, there were no Hail Mary’s this year, as the Eagles took care of Cass Tech. St’ Ed’s improved to 1-1 with the win while the Technicians fell to 0-2. Up next for Coach Lombardo and the Eagles is Erie Cathedral Prep, who are coming off their third straight Pennsylvania Class 4A State Championship. Last year, the Eagles took care of business against Cathedral Prep, winning 35-3.
