This past Saturday, the Eagle soccer team took the field on a cold and rainy day.  The Eagles opened up their post season run against the Patriots of Valley Forge from Parma.  With Sub 50 ’s temperatures and a steady rainfall, the game was set up to be a tough, grind it out kind of game.
It did not take long for the Eagles to warm up in the cold weather though, as they scored two goals in the first ten minutes of the game by Junior Timmy Jonas and senior Brendan Davies.  The Eagles then went on to tack one more on before half, leading Valley Forge 3-0.
Even though the Eagles had a comfortable lead, they were as unrelenting as the rain in the Second half.  The Eagles netted 5 more goals in the second half, beating Valley Forge 8-0.  Goals were scored by Timmy Jonas, Julian Castro, and even a hat trick from Nate Lizanich.  Other highlights of the game included a blocked penalty kick from Senior goalkeeper Nate Brown and stellar defense from the “No Goal Patrol”, led by captain Kurt Wysocki.
After the game, Coach Duffy told the boys that this is just the beginning.  He told them that it is the beginning to a long journey, and there is still a lot to be done before they reach Columbus for the state championship.
The Eagle soccer team looks to make a deep run in the state tournament this year.  This team has a lot of talent and has the potential to make it very far into the post season.  The Eagle soccer players need the support from the students as they make their journey to Columbus.  The Eagles take on Brecksville-Broadview Heights in the backyard Wednesday the 22nd.  As coach Duffy says, the team needs, “ the 12th attacker”.  Come out Wednesday night and support your Eagles as they continue their playoff run.
