Qb
The number 1 quarterback that is being slept on this year, as much as I hate to say it as a Browns fan, is Kenny Pickett. Kenny Pickett has by far been the best quarterback in the pre-season which really doesn’t say much but his performance has only been getting better and carrying over since the end of last season. He was ranked number one in PFF for quarterbacks in the last 5 games and has no signs of slowing down. He had 87% completion percentage 2 tds and no interceptions which is the type of production you want to see from your starting quarterback during the pre-season. He was ranked number one in PFF for quarterbacks in the last 5 games and has no signs of slowing down. He has great fantasy upside this year considering the young weapons he has with an o line that has been improving very much. He has 2 great receiving threats out of the backfield with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Two wide receivers that complement each other very well between route running and athleticism with a reliable blanket over the middle with Friermuth. Pickett also is decently athletic upside to him where he will be able to extend plays and get you those extra points with rushing yards.
Rb
Antonio Gibson is a true sleeper pick at the Rb position because of the disappointing numbers he put up last season with career lows in carries, rushing yards, YPC, and only 3 rushing touchdowns. But despite all of that he finished 28th among running backs because he put up 46 catches for 353 yards and two tds on the season. In terms of backfield competition there isn’t very much in the receiving department considering Brian Robinson only had 12 targets last year and Chris Rodriguez only had 20 catches over 5 seasons at Kentucky. With J.D. Mckissick, who got most of the receiving work out of the backfield, and is gone now, and Eric Bienemy as the new O.C. Eric Bienemy has a very pass friendly offense with his past two running backs having at least 45 catches and two Tds. HC Ron Rivera said he’d like to get Gibson more touches and that he’s excited about how Gibson fits into “what Eric Bienemy wants to do with his offense.”
Wr
Jordan Addison for my pick of the best sleeper Wr this year. As he will never be the Wr 1 in the offense with Justin Jefferson around, but it’s a very nice spot to be in for him. The Vikings are very pass heavy, ranking 3rd last year in both pass rate and pass attempts, not much of a surprise as their HC Kevin O’Connel is a former QB. With Jefferson around not many people really see any other Wrs getting much of a target share, but I believe that there is enough love to go around for Addison to put up some huge numbers. Addison is the perfect complement to Jefferson with his impressive route running and explosiveness. Addison won the Biletnikoff award in college and I believe doesn’t have too much competition at the Wr 2 spot with K.J. Osborne .
TE
Luke Musgrave could be one of the biggest sleeper picks of the year based on the fact that he got very little publicity at all because of his subpar performance at Oregon St. but all of that is out the window because of the very fun heavy offense they had with very poor Qb play. Luke is a very dominant combination of size and speed you would want for an ideal TE checking in at 6’6 253 lbs with a 36 inch vert. He is part of the league’s youngest Wr core with 2 sophomores and 1 rookie with little to no competition at the TE position. To be very plain and simple there are plenty of target shares and opportunities for Luke to be a very productive and good value pick for fantasy owners. He has been getting first team reps since the beginning of the summer which is very important and impressive for a rookie. Musgrave was targeted on 8 of Love’s 33 passes this pre-season and ran a pass route 89% of Love’s dropbacks while Travis Kelce last year ran a pass route on 83% of Patrick Mahomes dropbacks. Luke is looking forward to a very promising rookie campaign with a exciting situation with Jordan Love finally getting is first season as the starter with the Packers after Aaron Rodgers departure to the New York Jets.
