This year’s fall TV skate is stock full of returning fan favorites and includes shows for most kinds of viewer. Fans of horror, animation, comic books, and comedy will not be disappointed this fall season, while fans of drama may be slightly. However, while network TV is greatly lacking (and includes some of the worst shows of recent memory), there is a great collection of shows to fill your weeknights for the next months. Here are some of those shows, in no particular order.
Horror
“American Horror Story” and “The Walking Dead” have been two of the biggest cable shows of recent memory, and for good reason. “American Horror Story” has always offered some of the most original content on TV and this year returns with the theme of ‘Freak Show’, and “The Walking Dead” is always good for zombie-killing fun. Fans of horror have two great returning shows to reinvest in this fall.
Animation
Three of the most heralded animated shows started their seasons at the end of September: “Bob’s Burgers”, “Family Guy”, and “The Simpsons”. All of these shows have huge followings, and animation fans have been looking to their returns for months. If you’re ever in need of something stupid and fun to watch, all of these shows would be worth a look.
Superhero Shows
Superheros have taken the TV landscape by storm, and that’s not a bad thing. The return of “Arrow” has fans pumped, and while “Agents of Shield” had an up-and-down first season, the word is that season two has improved on the promise of the first. “The Flash” and “Gotham” have received early rave reviews, and these are both shows that all superhero fans should at least check out.
Comedy
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is back for its second season after a surprise Best Comedy Series Emmy win, and stand-up comedian John Mulaney’s self-titled shows “Mulaney” recently premiered. Look out for Mulaney and Andy Samberg to be making everyone laugh this fall.
