Eagle Swimmers Look to Make Postseason Run

Miguel Poblete ’15
This season the Eagle swimmers faced their toughest schedule in school history. Facing off with top teams in the state almost every week, the swim team went 4-6 throughout the regular season. Led by senior captains Aidan Brady, Grant Braid, John Kilbane, Miguel Poblete and Bryan Wolf they defeated Walsh Jesuit, Gilmore and were able to beat the St. Ignatius Wildcats in a dual meet at the end of the season. The JV team also bested Fairview High School. In the last two meets, the Eagles faced University School and Hawken, who both consistently finish in the Top 5 at the Division II State Meet.
As the post season starts on Saturday February 9, 2014 at Lakewood High School for the Sectional Meet, the Eagles look to send all 18 athletes to the District Meet at CSU and a handful of individuals including all 3 relays to the State Championship in Canton. Coach Eric Dennis is confident the team will have the best showing at the State Meet in school history. Sophomore Mason Beck, junior Alex Olexa, and seniors Grant Braid and Miguel Poblete are among the top seeds in the District heading into the championship run along with the 3 relays consisting of Aidan Brady, Nick Babson, Bryan Wolf, Alex Grant and John Kilbane. Earlier this year, Miguel Poblete set a new school record in the 100 Breaststroke and hopes to break it again during the post season. As the postseason begins, it looks as if the eagles may be able to make it the best postseason ever.
