University Heights, OH- The Eagles came into the game this Saturday 3-0 with much work still to be done. They looked forward to taking on the challenge of facing the #9 team in the state, Cincinnati Elder. The Varsity Eagles had the privilege of playing the Elder Panthers at John Carroll University, which is familiar territory for the team. John Carroll University was the location of this year’s pre-season camp, where many hours of work were put in to prepare for the upcoming season. Many fans made the trip out to University Heights, including some super heroes. Students went all out on the theme, breaking out the Super Mario, Ironman, Spiderman, costumes. Shaun Crawford truly put on a super hero performance for the fans and his team. Crawford accounted for 3 touchdowns, including a 76 yard TD run and a 63 yard punt return for a touchdown. At the half, the score was 27-0 Eagles.
In addition, the Eagle defense had a great game, shutting down the Panthers with many stops on 3rd and 4th down. A key play in the second half was a perfectly placed 24 yard touchdown pass from Brett Kean to DJ Thomas to make it 41-0 Eagles which drove the nail through the coffin. It was great team effort as the Eagles defeated the #9 team in the state 48-7 and improved to 4-0 on the season. The Eagles will play Erie McDowell (Erie, Pennsylvania) at 2:00 at Lakewood Stadium. We hope to see you there!
