The Man. The Myth. The Legend. Cooper Meneghetti’s time at Saint Edward and as part of the Edsman Newspaper has been nothing short of illustrious. From the water boy on the field and a varsity tennis player, his efforts on the field have been essential to Saint Edward’s success. But more importantly, his determination on the laptop and during Edsman meetings has greatly impacted the Saint Edward community.
Coming from St. Raphael located in Bay Village, Cooper – or Coop for short – first started his time as an Edsman Writer with Cooper’s Corner, an in-depth evaluation of the NFL games for each week. He maintained a relatively good prediction as he went a PR 2-2 for Week 1.
From the man himself, he states that his favorite articles he has written are 1) Sports Theme Song Rankings – (April 17th, 2023) 2) The Requiem for Neymar – (September 5th, 2023) 3) Football 25 Preview – (March 13th, 2024). All, and more, can be found on the Edsman newspaper website.
An interesting thing that puts Coop above the rest is his motivation and how it grew. In an interview, he stated, “I felt motivated to write initially because I liked the idea of being a sports columnist and getting to talk about a subject I loved so much. Later in my career at the Edsman, I sort of mimicked one of my favorite sports radio shows, The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz, and tried to translate that into writing. This became an inspiration for many of my top 5/10 lists over these past few years.”
His attendance at Edsman meetings was always something that was coveted. He even lists a favorite memory as such. He stated “My favorite Edsman memories have to be conversations with members debating a variety of topics at meetings. You can never expect the conversation to go one particular way, it sort of ebbs and flows based on who is part of it. There is never anything written about this time but it is an integral part of the Edsman community in my opinion.”
Cooper Meneghetti, a valued commit to Miami University, plans to study Biology and Neuroscience. We hope, as part of the Edsman Club, that Coop succeeds in his post-Edsman era and that he continues his love of writing. This was the Final Scoop on Coop.
