Cooper’s Corner: College Edition
Cooper’s Corner is back after a prolonged absence from the Edsman. In this time of deep self reflection I have come to the conclusion that College Football is in fact superior to football of the Professional Variety. Leaving the NFL in the dust it’s time for College Football week 11.
Queue the iconic CBS College Football sound the 3:30 SEC slot belongs to Ole Miss, who are welcoming the Alabama Crimson Tide into Oxford in a 11 vs 10 matchup. The historical implications of Lane Kiffin taking down Nick Saban, has potential to derail Saban’s dominant era. I believe that on Saturday, Nick Saban will take down the pupil sending the Lane Train off the rails.
At 3:30 there is yet another ranked matchup with huge implications for the American Conference. 22nd ranked UCF Golden Knights take on the 16th ranked Tulane Green Wave. Tulane is one of the nations hottest non power 5 teams and they should maintain the win at home.
The FOX 7pm prime time game features a ranked PAC 12 clash, 24th ranked Washington vs 6th ranked Oregon. The Huskies will not be ready for the hostile environment in Authenz Stadium and as a result the Ducks will pull away from number 24.
One of the marquee matchups of Saturday is the 7:30 time slot Texas Christian University, the fourth ranked team in the nation, travels into Austin to take on the 18th ranked Longhorns. Frankly the CFP committee places too much stock in Texas’ almost upset of Alabama, and I think that after a close first half, the Horn Frogs will dominate the second half and get the win.
