Cooper’s Corner: Week 2

Alright, it is NFL Week 2 and welcome to Cooper’s Corner. In this debut edition of Cooper’s Corner, the Edsman has trusted me to make the picks for Week 2. Stick around and you will not be disappointed.

Week 2 kickoffs with a much anticipated Thursday night clash, Chargers at Chiefs. It is the debut of Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime, and Jeff Bezos has ensured that NFL fans will find a way to tune in. The Chargers are a team that the National Media is sky high on, however Brandon Staley, and his aggressive play calling will ultimately result in crucial late game mistakes. Patrick Mahomes is the most exciting quarterback in the game, sorry Justin Herbert, and Patrick’s killer instinct will propel the Chiefs to victory.

The Sunday 1pm slot features another intriguing matchup that the national media is excited for, Dolphins at Ravens. The question concerning that game is, what kind of quarterback is Tua Tagovailoa? Arguably the most hyped NFL draft prospect in the 2010’s, Tagovailoa has a lot to prove. The Dolphins have an incredibly talented offensive, and a stellar defense. The Ravens are not ready for this high powered offense, and the Dolphins will pull a stunning upset in week 2.

The New York Jets come to Cleveland to face the Browns who are 1-0 for the first time since 2004. Joe Flacco and his 17-3 career record against the Browns, will need to be amended to 17-4, because the Browns are fired up and ready to go. It’s a new season, new field design, and new undefeated Browns starting quarterback, Jacoby Brissett. The Jets will be quickly dismissed and the team can focus on the Stealers in week 3

The Final Matchup on Cooper’s Corner this week is Bengals at Cowboys. Both teams are 0-1, and in desperate need of a win. The Cowboys lost Dak Prescott for several weeks, and America’s Team is certainly in a pickle. Regardless of quarterback I would have picked the Bengals, but this week it seems certain that the Cowboys are destined to receive a good old thrashing in Jerry’s World.

Feel free to comment on what games I should predict for Week 3, or the weekend games in any other sport.
