Congratulations to the St. Edward wrestlers, who claimed their 39th District Championship on Saturday in Mentor. The Eagles will send 12 wrestlers to the State Tournament this weekend. Shoutout to Sean Seefeldt, Bryce Hepner, Bryce Andonian, Sam Dover, Paddy Gallagher, and Hudson Hightower for winning District Championships. Also, great job to Hudson Poole, Angelo Rini, and Scottie Richter on claiming second place, as well as Rich Delsanter, Mike Garcar, and Seamus O’Malley on finishing third. Nick Lisco and Brian Kilbane fell short of qualifying for states, but both still fantastic seasons. Good luck to the wrestling squad as they look to bring home state title number 37.
The Eagle Basketball team opened up the 2019 OHSAA Division 1 Boys Basketball Playoffs with a big win over Parma on Saturday in the Nest. After a rough second quarter for the Eagles and a great shooting half for Parma, the Eagles led at half 34-25. However, we felt as if the score should not have been so close at the half.
The Eagles opened up the second half well, scoring 12 points before Parma got one. With great defense, rebounding, and shooting, the Eagles outscored Parma 27-5 in the third quarter. The Eagles finished strong on won the game 74-36. The win was a great team victory, as everyone played at least a few minutes of the game.
Grant Huffman and Meechie Terry each had dunks. Check out Grant’s dunk here and Meechie’s dunk here.
With the win over Parma, the Eagles advance to the District Semifinals on Wednesday, March 6th at 7 P.M. at Lakewood High School. The Eagles will take on Medina, the number 4 seed in the Lakewood District, who just came off a big win over North Royalton.
Get your tickets and be there on Wednesday to cheer on the Eagles!
GO EAGLES!
