Eagles Primed to Make Deep Playoff Run

As the basketball Eagle’s phenomenal regular season comes to an end, the #1 team in the state looks to make a deep run in the playoffs.  The Eagles, currently 17-2 and ranked #10 in the country, are one of the #1 ranked teams in the Akron bracket of the OHSAA playoffs.

When asked about the team’s goals for the playoffs, Junior Mike Ryan told the Edsman that the team’s goals are, “Play as a team every game in the playoffs and stay comfortable.  The games in the playoffs are way more important than regular season games.  It is important to keep composure.  Lastly the ultimate goal is winning it all… the state title.”  With these goals in mind, the playoffs should certainly be fun to watch.  The Eagles have not won a state title since 1998, and have a good chance of breaking that spell this year.  With 9 seniors on the team, the team brings multiple years of playoff experience, including Marsalis Hamilton, who will be in his 4th playoffs as a varsity player.
The Eagles are set to make their playoff debut against the winner of Parma Valley Forge and Cleveland Max S. Hayes on Saturday, March 1, at 4:00 pm with the location still to be determined.
Even though the playoffs are looming, the Eagles still have some marquis games to end their fantastic regular season.  The Eagles play annual powerhouse VASJ before closing out the season against Akron Firestone.  Make sure you get out and support the Eagle basketball team for the remainder of the regular season.
